Facilitating a Community of Support

Texas CASA and CASA of North Texas are vital partners in an actively evolving Texas child welfare system. Community-Based Care is a rapidly expanding way of providing foster care and case management services. And, for the first time since before Texas CASA’s founding 35 years ago, the state is also updating how it pays for foster care services through Texas Child-Centered Care. Help CASA of North Texas provide training and assistance to the local volunteers and to serve as a resource, as these changes to child welfare are implemented across Texas.

By 2025, approximately 85% of children in foster care will be placed in an area that is under Community-Based Care. The goal of Texas Child-Centered Care is to improve outcomes for children in foster care, including those in Community-Based Care areas, while recognizing and compensating caregivers for delivering high-quality services. This new structure will dramatically shift the culture of child welfare in Texas and have a significant impact on CASA’s advocacy for children.

CASA of North Texas will not go through these transitions alone. We are gathering ideas and information, building relationships, and working to sustain our role in this new system.

You can help CASA of North Texas by supporting children and families involved in the Texas foster care system as it continues to evolve.
